Juanita Peters started in the media world in 1981, as a newscaster for the
Annapolis Valley Radio Network. Later she became the afternoon news anchor
for CHSJ television in Saint John, New Brunswick. She joined the CBC suppertime
news team in 1991 where she remained until coming to Nova Scotia. Juanita has played
host to four seasons of CBC Televisions summer documentary series DOC SIDE.
Her first film “I MADE A VOW” was nominated for two golden sheaf awards at the
YORKTON SHORT FILM FESTIVAL. Her film “HANNAH’S STORY” was awarded “Most
Inspirational Film” at the Reel 2 Real Festival in Vancouver and “Best Short Film” at the
Bermuda International Children’s Film Festival.

Throughout her career, Juanita Peters has appeared in many stage plays, movies and television
series.
She is a member of ACTRA, The Writers Guild of Canada, and a founding board member of
Women In Film and Television-Atlantic.
Marty Williams is a native of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He has been in working in the
Television and Film industry since 1974. During his early years in the business, he worked
for the Multicultural Association of Nova Scotia (MANS) as a producer creating vignettes for
MANS.
During the early 80s Marty worked in Halifax with Media Co-op, a collective of independent
producers. In those early years, he was an editor on Media Co-op’s Dance Makes Waves, a
production for CBC, and The Lamplighter, a ½ hr drama pilot also for CBC. Marty was also a
producer of advertisement and industrial videos.
In 1987, Marty moved to New Brunswick and for the next 13 years worked as first assistant
Program Director in Fredericton and later Program Director for Miramichi, Kent County,
Bathurst, Campbellton and the Acadian Peninsula. During his time in North-eastern New
Brunswick he was simultaneously producing programming for four community television
systems in both official languages.
Marty returned to Nova Scotia in 2001 to work with Telefilm Canada as a Creative and Business
Affairs analysis.
Since his retirement from Telefilm, Marty has continued to work in the Television and Film
industry as a consultant and an independent producer. He has projects in various stage of
production.
In 2008-09 Marty produced the documentary Africville: Can’t Stop Now.
Marty is also an accomplished Blues musician and can be seen playing Blues Harmonica in
various venues throughout Nova Scotia.
